Bapu Trust is involved in research, advocacy and service provision in Pune and Mumbai, in the area of mental health since 1999. Our work is informed by a user-centered, rights-based approach and covers a range of mental health issues including the rights of the mentally ill, gender linkages in mental health and alternative approaches towards mental health. We have initiated model psychosocial programs within the community and institutional settings in Pune and Mumbai. We also have a resource centre on mental health at Pune. We work towards legal and policy reform in the mental health sector. We are also involved in a diverse range of educational activities.
The Trust strives continually to provide good opportunities for autonomous working, professional growth and a mental health nurturing work environment. We are now looking for persons with a committed interest and expertise in mental health advocacy, who are willing to dedicate themselves to furthering innovative mental health ideas and programs through the Bapu Trust. We are interested in people who can invest at least 3 years of their professional career in the Trust.
1. Research Coordinator (Pune):
Qualifications: M.Phil. in Social Sciences (Psychology/ Sociology/ Anthropology / health / public health) with a committed interest in mental health advocacy related research, the capacity to do independent research, capable of conceptualising and developing a research area or programme, and analytical skills.
Languages: English, Hindi with at least a basic understanding of Marathi
Job Profile:
- Assisting in the designing and creation of research projects
- Generating innovative ideas for research through review of literature etc.
- Developing appropriate research tools
- Planning and coordinating fieldwork for research
- Preparing pilot designs and analyzing results
- Documenting and preparing excellent reports
- Participating in publication of research results in journals and other relevant media
- Supporting in the creation of concept notes, proposals etc.
- Coaching researchers
Salary (depending on experience): between Rs. 10,000/= to Rs.13,000/= per month
2. Program Co-ordinator (Seher) (Pune) :
Applications are invited for the post of 'Program Co-ordinator' (mainly for working in institutional settings & community) for Bapu Trust's Pune office. Applicant should be preferably female.
Qualification: Post-graduate (MA Psychology; MSW) with 3-5 yrs. of experience in the area of mental health. Prior Experience of working with the govt. systems/Institutions will be preferred.
Job Profile:
- Main function of the Co-ordinator is to develop, lead and to implement the project providing mental health services to institutions namely Beggars' home, Mental hospital and in community.
- To work with the system & in community setting, assessment and counseling / psychotherapy, ability to conduct trainings in concepts and practices of mental health.
- Documentation and report writing.
Language: Fluency in speaking and writing in Marathi and English is necessary.
The candidate should have knowledge and experience of subjects like Psychiatry & Psychopathology, Counselling and Psychotherapy, good communication & leadership skills; ability to work in teams and build teams; be a self-motivated individual.
Salary (depending on experience): between Rs 10,000/= to 13,000/= per month
3. Team Service Assistant (Thane-Mumbai)
Qualifications: B.Com / BSW / BA, with basic interest in working for the voluntary sector, knowledge and experience of finance and administrative systems, file management and accurate documentation.
Languages: Fluent in Hindi, Marathi and English
Job Profile:
- Computer typing and documentation work
- Maintaining mailing lists, phone / courier operations, computer and office maintenance
- Managing Petty cash, maintaining vouchers etc.
- Liaison between the Mumbai office and Pune office
- Maintaining all statutory admin records, registers, releasing payments
- Provide support to all the programmes, projects and services
- Day to day administration of the office
Salary (depending on experience): between Rs 5,000/= to Rs. 7,000/= per month
